I am speaking at the mock dui car crash at East Ridge High School next Friday. Many things have come in my way that could distract me and weigh me down. Please pray for me.

I am really enjoying having the cattle right by my backyard! It’s wonderful seeing the little ones, the mommas and the big horned bull! Oh, and of course, the horse that I am growing fond of!

I was just thinking....
Really, the entire focus of my life is not just talking about grieving or my son’s death or drinking. It’s just that this happens to be the chapter of my life that’s on display once again. In a little while, I am going to review the notes from my speech at the DUI car crash event from last May. I’ll do some more preparation tomorrow, then the next day is the taping. I am...

Please pray for me
Wednesday is the taping day for the 30 minute television show that I’m doing on teen drinking and driving. I am giving the same speech that I did at the high school mock dui car crash event last May.  I will be telling the story of our son’s accident and death and encouraging others NOT to drink and drive. This is a very good thing, and yet it is a hard thing, as well. Just this...

I've Really Been Thinking.....
I don’t usually reprint anything from Picture My Thoughts, but tonight’s devotional is the exception.  Here goes: It’s happening again. Each of us travels a singular path apart from everyone else. Our life experiences in their entirety are known completely only by us—-and God.  The journey that He maps for us is a personal one, filled with specific directions and...

More Big News, Newspaper Style
I got a call yesterday from a newspaper reporter. I am going to be interviewed for a newspaper article about the new push in the state to educate parents about the dangers of teen drinking… That’s got me thinking…..  I want to be prepared to say good things—not stupid things that could be said if I was nervous. (I’ve never been interviewed by a newspaper reporter....

Has Anyone Heard of This?
I just found out today that a couple’s group study at church called GENESIS is being offered. It sounds good. I was wondering if any of you have ever gone through this study before.  If you have, let me know! I’d love to hear your thoughts. I am considering being a part of it.

I Need Advice
Okay. I was cleaning my refrigerator and I looked up in the area where we have an ice dispenser and water dispenser on the front of the door. There was black mold growing all over the place. Some of it I was able to clean, but I couldn’t get to all the places in the mechanism. I decided to push a q-tip up in the tube where the chilled water comes out…..it was SO moldy.  Yuck…. I...

BIGGER NEWS!!
The television show taping went fine.  Thank you all for praying for me and leaving encouraging comments. AFTERWARDS, while we were at the studio, it was suggested that another television show be taped—-this time it would be me speaking for 30 minutes to a live audience, doing the speech that I gave last May at the high school stadium at their Mock DUI car crash event. The show would air...

Big News
I was recently asked to take part in a television show. I will be part of a panel discussing the responsibilities of parents teaching their children about alcohol consumption. Many of you know that our son was killed at age 19 in an alcohol related car accident. Pray for me that I will say just what God wants me to.  The taping of the show is Friday.  I am supposed to speak with the producer...

My Testimony
Last year, around this time, I posted a short testimony of my faith. I decided to share it again. It was the autumn of the year. I remember it well. Finally having made it to college, I should have been joyous. But I wasn’t. The weeks and months were empty, though they were filled to the brim with the busy-ness of academics. Through just the right circumstances and at just the right time,...

It's Still True
Over a year ago, I wrote the words below. I still believe that this is still true. Protection When I close my eyes to sleep at night, I do so knowing that God is awake. As I rise to meet the challenges of the day, I do so knowing that I am not alone.  Nothing takes God by surprise. He is able to sustain me no matter what the current situation may warrant. He promises that He will be with me.

Go Out and Find the World!
This is reposted from my youth page, “Between the Roots.” You want to see everything—find everything. There’s the great unknown: where will I live? Who will I date next? What job will I have? The future is inviting. Before we look out to the great unknown, we need to look inside ourselves. Is God there? Are we allowing Him to guide us out into the future? You don’t...

Home Sick Revisited (or if you're under 30, REMIX)
Well, let’s see. Our youngest son and I got sick Thanksgiving. We are now on our second type of antibiotic to try to wipe out our specific brand of bronchitis/sinus infection. Our oldest son is getting sick now with a sore throat, etc… The next son in line told me today he is getting an ear infection and is really hurting. He’s got a doctor appointment tomorrow. My husband?...

Home Sick (not homesick)
I have an ear/sinus/bronchial infection. I am at home, sick….   :( When I am made to slow down like this, I have a lot of time to think and reflect. That’s one positive aspect of it all. The coughing is really bad, though.

What could you say?
Alright. This may be a little crazy, but I would like to put something out there. I have heard many good comments, testimonies, etc… of people speaking highly about their spouses/marriage relationship.  I know there’s a lot of negative stuff that gets heard all the time. But what about the good qualities that someone could look for/strive for in a marriage relationship? Would you just...

Now, where's that book......
I was looking for a book among our bookshelves. We have many books, and they’re not in order. I didn’t find what I was looking for, but then again, I did. Instead of the one I started out searching for, I saw a different book that I hadn’t thought about. I opened it up and it was right at an area that spoke to the subject I was looking for. I think God helped me find what I...

This is funny!
I saw this on another blog. You type in your blog URL and it gets analyzed. You get a personality report.   Here’s mine: ISTP - The Mechanics The independent and problem-solving type. They are especially attuned to the demands of the moment are masters of responding to challenges that arise spontaneously. They generally prefer to think things out for themselves and often avoid...

Advent
I was asked recently to post something about Advent on another site. Several people are working together to have a different message each day. My day to write was yesterday. I thought I would just repost it here, to share with all of you. Juggling
My husband can juggle—-I cannot. It almost seems effortless, except that when I watch him, I’m sort of expecting him to drop whatever he has spinning in the air.  For me, it’s a tense thing to watch, no matter who is doing the juggling. I am feeling better today. I was scheduled for a training workshop in another town. I was well enough to attend, thankfully. I feel like...

Feeling Better/The Sky is Amazing
I actually got to the doctor’s today. They had no available appointments, because they said everybody had what I had…  They “squeezed me in” at the end of the day. I am thankful. I am beginning my antibiotic treatment tonight. I missed school today. I just didn’t feel well enough to go. I have a workshop to attend tomorrow. I hope I can make it. My husband wanted me...

Just a Thought
Today I decided to put some photos in poster form. I may print some of them, maybe. Could it be that when I can’t talk when I’m sick, I channel my energies into typing at the computer?? What could I do with posters? I’ve thought about having them displayed at a local hospital. What do you all think? I’ve place two of them here. I made twelve of them today, using some of my...
